REDNECK BUILD (MAKEMAP) TUTORIAL by MATT NEWCOMB -------------------------------------------------------- THIS DOCUMENT WAS CREATED WITH NOTEPAD AND SHOULD DISPLAY CORRECTLY IF YOU MAXIMIZE IT AND SELECT WORD-WRAP FROM THE EDIT MENU. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PART 1: DOORS: TYPE 1: SWINGING DOOR- Make a door sector and give it a Lotag of 23. Insert a Sector Effector sprite ( S ) and place it inside the door sector. Give it a Hitag of 100 and a Lotag of 11. Use PageUp to put the sprite at the top of the door (in 3D mode) and move it into the door sector in 2D mode. Make another S.E. sprite and give it a Hitag of 20 and a Lotag of 10. Put it inside the door sector also, near the end of the door you want to be the pivot point. Make a MusicandSoundFX sprite ( M ) and give it a Hitag of 388 and a Lotag of 165 (the Swinging Door sound). The MSFX sprite must be inside the door sector. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- TYPE 2: RISING DOOR- Make a door sector and give it a Lotag of 20. That's it!! Add a sound with the M sprite (Lotag 166 sounds good). The SPEED sprite is the one with the BOOT-WITH-THE-WINGS. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- TYPE 3: SPLIT DOOR- Make a door sector (again?) and give it a Lotag of 22. Raise one half out of the floor and drop the other half out of the ceiling. Use the M sprite for sound. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- TYPE 4: FLOOR DOOR- You-know-what and give it a Lotag of 21. Add sound with M. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- TYPE 5: SLIDE DOOR- Guess what? Give it a Lotag of 25. Add S.E. and give it a Lotag of 15. Add M for sound. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- TYPE 6 AND 7: SWITCH ACTIVATED DOORS (both Rising and Lowering)- Do the deed and give it a Lotag of 20 (for ceiling door) or 21 (for floor door). Put Activator ( A ) sprite in door sector and give it a Lotag of ANY number (1,2,3,4,10,15,etc...). Make a SWITCH sprite and give it the SAME LOTAG YOU GAVE THE ACTIVATOR!!. If you use more than one Switch Activated door in a map, you must specify a different Lotag for each Door-and-Switch combination (unless you want to set a really killer trap for your player!!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well that's all the doors (except for the TEETH DOORS, STAR TREK DOORS, and the SPLIT STAR TREK DOORS. ( I didn't really see the point in these other than the novelty of it).
