Note: Shareware requires that the map files to be in the DUKE3D.GRP file. They then can be run them as the episode levels. You will need to rename each map you have to one of the original map names from the stock game. The result would be a lot of unknown maps, but at least you can run them with the v1.3d Shareware.

With the SETUP.EXE game launcher.

  1. After downloading the map archive file, unpack it into the main game directory.
Note: v1.5 allows you to place maps in the anywhere else you may have your own maps folder.
  2. Read all the text files that it came with, attention to installing incase it has special means to launching it.
  3. Enter the SETUP.EXE program.
  4. On the Setup screen, go down to "Select User Level." Hit Enter.
(For v1.5 pick "User Level Selection." Hit Enter, Then "Change User Path" to point to your own map directory. Hit Enter. Now go to "Select User Level."
  5. Select the map you want to play. Hit Enter.
  6. Select "Save and launch." The game will start with the map you picked.

With the game command line.

Just type the following:

duke3d -map mapname.map

If the map was in another folder, like a folder called \maps in your game folder, you would type out the path:

duke3d -map c:\duke3d\maps\mapname.map
